'Squid Game' Drops to 2nd Place in the US, 'My Name' Rises to 4th Place

The drama 'Squid Game' dropped one spot to 2nd place in the U.S. streaming video service rankings but continues to lead the global viewing rankings, while 'My Name' rose to 4th place.

According to FlixPatrol, an online video service (OTT) ranking aggregation site, on the 16th, the U.S. thriller 'YOU' Season 3 overtook 'Squid Game' to claim 1st place in the U.S. and maintained the top spot the following day as well.

First released in 2018, 'YOU' is a drama about a serial killer who falls in love, and its third season was recently released. The lead role is played by Penn Badgley, known for his role in the popular TV series 'Gossip Girl.'

Thus, 'Squid Game' gave up its top spot in the U.S. after holding 1st place for 25 days since its release on the 17th of last month. However, it remains 1st in the global viewing rankings despite dropping to 2nd place in the U.S.

The highly anticipated follow-up, 'My Name,' riding the wave of the 'Squid Game' craze, rose to 4th place in the Netflix TV series category just two days after its release. 'My Name' is an 8-episode crime thriller depicting a revenge story where the protagonist infiltrates an organization to find the person who killed her father.

As the K-entertainment wave continues, the entertainment sector, a beneficiary, showed a unified upward trend that day.

The stock price of Studio Santa Claus Entertainment, the producer of 'My Name,' surged 30% intraday, hitting the upper limit. The trading volume that day exceeded 26 times the daily average of the previous three months.
