Additional Issuance of 'Munhwa Nuri Card' Usable for Cultural Arts, Domestic Travel, and Sports Activities
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture announced on the 19th that it will issue additional 'Munhwa Nuri Cards' to 35,000 basic livelihood security recipients and lower-income groups residing in Seoul.
The 'Munhwa Nuri Card' is a public interest project supported by the lottery fund from the Ministry of Strategy and Finance's Lottery Commission. It aims to improve quality of life and reduce cultural disparities by supporting cultural arts, domestic travel, and sports activities for 1.8 million basic livelihood security recipients and lower-income individuals annually.
This additional issuance follows the early closure of card issuance in the first half of the year for existing users due to the 'Munhwa Nuri Card Automatic Recharge System' implemented earlier this year. Accordingly, additional budget has been allocated, enabling support for 330,000 people, including 35,000 who were unable to receive the card.
The additional issuance targets basic livelihood security recipients and lower-income groups aged six and older residing in Seoul, with support of up to 100,000 KRW per person annually. From the card issuance date until December 31 of this year, the card can be used at nationwide Munhwa Nuri Card offline and online affiliated stores in the fields of culture, tourism, and sports.
Applications for Munhwa Nuri Card issuance can be made by visiting the nearest community service center regardless of address or through the Munhwa Nuri Card website mobile application until November 30.
Meanwhile, the Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture is continuously recruiting new Munhwa Nuri Card affiliated stores and discount programs in the Seoul area for the second half of the year to enhance user convenience. Eligible affiliated store sectors include culture, tourism, and sports fields such as books, music, video, performances, fine arts, cultural experiences, transportation, travel agencies, tourist attractions, zoos and botanical gardens, hot springs, experiential tourism, theme parks, accommodations, sports viewing, sports goods, and sports facilities. Companies providing these services online can also participate.
