Opened to Commemorate the 73rd Anniversary
[Yeosu=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Sim Kyung-taek] Jeollanam-do Yeosu City is opening the Yeosun Incident Memorial Hall within Odongdo, famous for its camellia flowers, starting from the 19th, in line with the enactment of the Yeosun Incident Special Act.
According to Yeosu City on the 18th, the memorial hall consists of six archives covering the situation of South Korea during the post-liberation turmoil, the development process, efforts by civilians and government for the enactment of the special law, and a photo zone shaped like a finger gun.
The hall also operates a VR panorama hall showcasing Yeosu’s major tourist sites, which have risen from past pain to become a beautiful tourist city, as well as a video experience and screening room about the Yeosun Incident.
The memorial hall will hold an opening ceremony on the 19th, the 73rd anniversary of the Yeosun Incident, and will be open to the general public. A dark tourism city tour product based on the Yeosun Incident, linked to this, is scheduled to begin operation in December.
Until now, Yeosu City has made continuous efforts such as the Seoul Memorial Culture Festival, the creative opera “Silence” about the Yeosun Incident, visits to the National Assembly urging the enactment of the special law, and a special screening of the movie “Dongbaek” for members of the National Assembly. As a result, in June, the Yeosun Incident Special Act bill passed the National Assembly plenary session for the first time in 73 years, marking a historic moment.
