[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] The Jinju City Council's Urban Environment Committee conducted an inspection activity on the 18th as part of the 233rd Standing Committee session at the site of the 'Wolasan Forest Pearl of Jinju' project.
'Wolasan Forest Pearl of Jinju' is the nation's top recreational and leisure tourism complex and healing-themed facility where citizens can enjoy forest welfare services in their daily lives without having to travel far.
The Urban Environment Committee members visited the project site to conduct an on-site inspection and listened to officials about the progress of the project so far and future schedules.
At the site, Lee Hyun-wook, Chairperson of the Urban Environment Committee, said, "'Wolasan Forest Pearl of Jinju' will be a unique forest recreation facility utilizing natural resources, providing a citizen leisure space that residents can enjoy nearby," and urged efforts to promote it as a representative tourist attraction of Jinju City.
The forest welfare complex 'Wolasan Forest Pearl of Jinju' will function as a forest culture platform connecting nature and people, offering woodworking experiences, forest experiences, camping (accommodation), leisure sports, relaxation, and linkage with local festivals.
By December this year, when accommodations such as forest houses and campgrounds, complex sanitation facilities, and a pedestrian bridge connecting to Woodland are completed, the accommodation capacity including camping will be able to host up to about 200 people per day. The forest leisure complex will feature six types of adventure experience facilities, including net adventure and zipline.
Heo Hyun-cheol, Director of the Jinju City Forestry Department, who accompanied the on-site inspection, stated, "We will do our best to promote the project to create more distinctive and interconnected forest welfare facilities utilizing natural resources and establish a systematic operational foundation."
