[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Cho Hyung-joo] The College of Pharmacy at Chonnam National University (Dean Kim Kwon-seop) announced on the 18th that it has obtained a 5-year accreditation in the ‘2021 Pharmacy Education Accreditation’ conducted by the Korea Institute of Pharmacy Education and Evaluation.
The accreditation system of the Korea Institute of Pharmacy Education and Evaluation assesses whether the basic requirements necessary for nurturing professional pharmacy talents are met. According to the revision of the Pharmacist Act, from 2025, only graduates from universities that have obtained accreditation will be eligible to take the national pharmacist qualification examination.
The pharmacy education accreditation standards consist of a total of 8 evaluation areas and 50 essential items: ▲mission and talent vision ▲operation ▲curriculum ▲students ▲faculty ▲educational environment and facilities ▲post-graduate education ▲continuous improvement. The College of Pharmacy at Chonnam National University met more than 90% of the standards, proving its excellence as a pharmacy education institution.
Dean Kim Kwon-seop said, “By obtaining accreditation ahead of the implementation of the integrated 6-year system starting in 2022, we have laid the foundation to produce the best pharmacists in the country,” and added, “We will cultivate outstanding pharmacy talents through the establishment of state-of-the-art research facilities and educational systems.”
The validity period of this accreditation is 5 years, from January 1, 2022, to December 31, 2026.
