KOSPI Continues Fluctuating Around 3,000 Level... KOSDAQ Slightly Rises While Holding 990 Level

[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Seon-ae] The KOSPI index continues to fluctuate around the 3000 level. The KOSDAQ index is also maintaining the 990 level, showing a slight upward trend.

As of 1:52 PM on the 18th, KOSPI is at 3008.77, down 0.21% from the previous trading day, while KOSDAQ is at 995.89, up 0.54%. During the session, both KOSPI and KOSDAQ fell below the 3000 and 990 levels respectively, but have since reduced their losses and are fluctuating.

Individual investors are driving the KOSPI's rise, with net purchases of 474.5 billion KRW. Conversely, foreign investors and institutions are net sellers with 2.8 billion KRW and 489.1 billion KRW respectively. The KOSDAQ market shows a similar trend. Individuals have a net buying advantage of 155.4 billion KRW, while foreign investors and institutions are net sellers by 101.8 billion KRW and 18.1 billion KRW respectively.

The strong sectors in KOSPI are Services (+0.90%), Food and Beverages (+0.62%), and Chemicals (+0.46%), while the weak sectors are Textiles and Apparel (-1.58%), Transportation and Warehousing (-1.44%), and Pharmaceuticals (-0.75%).

The strong sectors in KOSDAQ are Entertainment and Culture (+2.28%), General Electric and Electronics (+2.01%), and Digital Contents (+1.94%), while the weak sectors are Information Technology (-0.87%), Transportation (-0.86%), and Internet (-0.84%).

Among the top market capitalization stocks in KOSPI, NAVER (+0.64%), LG Chem (+0.72%), and Samsung SDI (+1.26%) are on the rise. On the other hand, SK Hynix (-1.02%), Samsung Electronics (-0.14%), Samsung Biologics (-0.46%), and Celltrion (-1.82%) are weaker compared to the previous session.

Among the top market capitalization stocks in KOSDAQ, the strength of secondary battery material stocks such as EcoPro BM (+3.99%), L&F (+3.05%), and Cheonbo (+7.36%) stands out. Some gaming stocks like Kakao Games (+6.07%) and Wemade (+3.33%) are also showing significant gains.
