[Haenam=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Hyun] As the pace of large-scale projects in Haenam-gun, which will bring a revolutionary change to tourism in the southwestern region, is accelerating, the golf course Solasideo CC within the Solar City industrial complex in Sanim-myeon, Haenam-gun, officially opened on the 16th.

According to Haenam-gun on the 18th, Solasideo CC covers an area of 777,846㎡ (approximately 230,000 pyeong) and features 18 holes. It is characterized by a gentle and beautiful landscape that feels like walking through a vast garden, in line with the concept of Solasideo Industrial City, which aims to be a garden city.

Geographically, it can be reached within 10 minutes from Seoyeongam IC, and is located near major transportation networks such as the Seohaean Expressway, Namhae Expressway, and Muan International Airport, offering excellent accessibility from anywhere nationwide, including the Seoul metropolitan area, and is expected to be spotlighted as a new leisure destination.

With the opening of Solasideo CC, the promotion of Solasideo Industrial City is also gaining momentum.

The Yeongam-Haenam tourism and leisure-type industrial city development project, which includes about 20.9 million㎡ (6.32 million pyeong) in the Guseong district covering Guseong-ri, Sanggong-ri, and Deoksong-ri in Sanim-myeon, Haenam-gun, had shown little progress for over a decade since being designated as a pilot project in 2005. However, it is now seeking a breakthrough through the Jeonnam-type Smart Blue City development, part of Jeollanam-do's Blue Economy initiative.

Solasideo Industrial City has an urban vision of a garden city, solar energy city, and smart city, aiming to create a smart city with self-sufficient functions such as jobs, tourism, housing, education, and medical care.

Additionally, projects such as the establishment of an RE100 exclusive pilot complex that supplies 100% renewable energy to the entire industrial complex, and the creation of Sani Garden, a complex cultural space covering about 500,000㎡ (160,000 pyeong), are underway.

With beautiful natural surroundings embracing lakes, the sea, and gardens, and advanced infrastructure based on clean renewable energy, the plan is to attract a residential population of 36,600 people and 14,640 households.

Accordingly, by the end of last year, the first phase of the renewable energy industrial complex, centered on the Solasideo solar power plant, covering about 1.59 million㎡ (480,000 pyeong) with a capacity of 98 MW, was completed.

The construction of a four-lane dual carriageway industrial city access road connecting Daejin-ri in Sanim-myeon to Samho-eup in Yeongam-gun is currently over 80% complete and is scheduled to be finished by the end of this year.

Haenam-gun is focusing on strategies to revitalize tourism in the southwestern region by linking the development of Solasideo Industrial City with the Haenam Osiano Tourism Complex and others.

The Osiano Tourism Complex adjacent to Solasideo Industrial City secured national government funding for the installation of a sewage treatment plant after persistent efforts last year, marking the first time in over 30 years. The public sewage treatment facility project is now being actively promoted, signaling a green light for private investment activation.

Meanwhile, the Korea Tourism Organization plans to build the Osiano Resort Hotel by 2023, featuring 120 guest rooms, an infinity pool, banquet halls, a panoramic caf?, restaurants, and a kids' pool. It is already attracting attention as an attractive accommodation facility linked to the beautiful coastal scenery.

In particular, in September last year, the Haenam Useuyeong Skywalk and marine cable car opened, creating a course that connects Haenam Osiano Tourism Complex, Solasideo Industrial City, Useuyeong Uldolmok, and other Haenam tourist resources, as well as marine tourist sites in Jindo and Sinan, Mokpo New Port, and the Seohaean Expressway. This course is emerging as a new tourism belt in the southwestern region of Jeollanam-do.

Furthermore, the road construction project connecting Haenam Hwawon to Sinan Aphae, the last unconnected section of National Route 77, is being actively promoted, raising expectations even higher.

Once the total length of 13.49 km, including the 2.73 km undersea tunnel from Haenam Hwawon to Mokpo Dallido, is connected, it is expected to further boost tourism activation by linking with the Seohaean Expressway and Muan International Airport high-speed railway.

Haenam-gun is also promoting coastal road construction projects between Mokpo Gudeung Lighthouse and Yanghwa, and between Hwawon Husan and Jangsu. Starting from Hwawon Maewol-ri, infrastructure is being established to connect about 23 km of coastal roads from Mokpo Gudeung Lighthouse to Jangsu-ri and the Osiano Tourism Complex, preparing proactively.

County Governor Myeong Hyun-gwan said, “Haenam, the hidden gem of the southwestern sea, has experienced a stagnation period in industrial development due to geographical limitations as the land’s end, despite numerous possibilities. We will do our utmost to prepare thoroughly so as not to miss this critical period of envisioning Haenam’s future development, actively supporting the revitalization of Solasideo Industrial City and fulfilling its role as a hub for southwestern tourism through cooperation between the public and private sectors.”
