Subsidiary Jane Motors' Multipurpose Vehicle 'Terrian' 2 Units
Ongoing Technology Development and Talent Cultivation through Industry-Academia Collaboration
Mutual Growth Management Contributing to Environmental and Social Sectors
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Jeong-su] DIC, an electric vehicle reducer company chaired by Kim Seong-moon, which has declared ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management, announced on the 18th that it donated two electric vehicles to Keimyung University (President Shin Il-hee) for industry-academia cooperation and other purposes.
The electric vehicles donated by DIC are two multipurpose transport electric vehicles called "Terian," produced by its subsidiary Jane Motors, valued at approximately 35 million KRW each. Keimyung University plans to use these vehicles for transporting goods and as work vehicles on campus.
In April, DIC also pledged a donation of 240 million KRW as an engineering talent scholarship. Along with contributions to the environmental sector, the company aims to practice ESG management through scholarship donations and further contribute to regional revitalization through technology development via industry-academia cooperation.
At the donation ceremony, Shin Il-hee, President of Keimyung University, expressed gratitude, stating, "The vehicles donated by Jane Motors will symbolize the creation of a carbon-neutral campus," and added, "Let us maintain our cooperative relationship and strive to jointly contribute to regional development."
Kim Seong-moon, Chairman of DIC, responded, "Developing technology and nurturing outstanding talent through industry-academia cooperation with Keimyung University greatly benefits our corporate operations," and said, "In the future society, new technology development and talent cultivation through university-industry collaboration will play an important role."
Within the Department of Electrical Energy Engineering at Keimyung University, the Energy Conversion Systems Laboratory (led by Professor Kang Dong-woo) is collaborating with DIC to develop next-generation e-powertrain motors and electric components motors.
The Robotics and Automotive Electric Motor Control Laboratory (led by Professor Go Seong-cheol) in the Department of Robotics Engineering is also collaborating on motor drive technology. Additionally, after signing an agreement in January this year, DIC established the DIC Electric Components Technology Research Center within Keimyung University in April, proactively selecting excellent personnel to strategically prepare for future business.
Furthermore, through the Department of Electrical and Electronic Convergence Systems Engineering (a corporate employment contract department) at Keimyung University Graduate School, they continue industry-academia cooperation by annually supplying highly skilled personnel with master's degrees or higher in the electrical field.
Meanwhile, in July, DIC held an ESG declaration ceremony presenting management goals such as △leading the eco-friendly future automobile market to achieve carbon neutrality △establishing a foothold in the eco-friendly materials market △realizing the monetization of carbon emission rights △building ESG management cooperation systems with global companies △promoting an eco-friendly image △establishing workplace safety systems for a safe working environment △achieving stable governance △enhancing shareholder value △and practicing corporate ethical management.
