[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Cho Hyung-joo] An accident occurred in Gwangju where a scrap dealer's vehicle carrying equipment in its cargo bed collided with a pedestrian overpass.
According to the Bukbu Police Station on the 18th, at around 4:30 a.m., a scrap dealer's vehicle driven by Mr. A (65), traveling from Geumnam-ro in Dong-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City toward Yudong Intersection in Buk-gu, collided with a pillar of the pedestrian overpass near Suchang Elementary School.
As a result of the accident, the concrete under the pedestrian overpass, approximately 4.3 meters high, was damaged and fell onto the road.
There were no casualties, but to prevent further damage, the police and fire authorities set up a restricted access line and proceeded to remove the reinforced concrete. They plan to conduct a safety inspection later through a safety inspection company.
The police are investigating the exact circumstances, believing that the metal equipment loaded on Mr. A’s vehicle was taller than the pedestrian overpass, causing the accident.
