[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seon-sik] Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority (President Cha Min-sik) announced on the 18th that it conducted safety inspections on 10 aged and high-risk port facilities, including the petrochemical wharf, which have been completed for over 30 years.
During the "Safer Korea" National Safety Inspection period (8.23 ~ 11.12), the authority operated its own safety inspection team to carry out safety checks and identify blind spots in safety. Safety hazards discovered through the inspections will be addressed according to urgency, with emergency maintenance and detailed safety diagnoses planned for repair and reinforcement.
Additionally, the authority stated that the results of this safety inspection will be disclosed on the authority’s website and continuously managed. Furthermore, safety inspections will be conducted on multi-use facilities such as passenger terminals in the future.
President Cha Min-sik of the authority said, “Since accidents at ports can cause significant damage, we will strengthen effectiveness through thorough safety inspections and strive for meticulous management to ensure there are no safety blind spots in preparation for disasters.”
