[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heeyoon] An eco-friendly appliance with the recycling effect equivalent to 242 discarded single-use PET bottles is being introduced for the first time.
On the 18th, SK Magic (CEO Yoon Yoseop) unveiled its eco-friendly appliance lineup, the 'Green Collection,' and announced the launch of its first product, the 'All Clean Air Purifier Green 242' (model: ACL-15C1A), which applies 99.5% eco-friendly plastic (PCR-ABS).
PCR-ABS (Post-Consumer Recycled Material) is recycled plastic extracted from plastics contained in discarded home appliances and electronics, and is a harmless eco-friendly material. SK Magic previously succeeded in developing PCR-ABS color and design in November last year and introduced commercialized products.
The Green 242 is a new eco-friendly model of the All Clean Air Purifier that expands the application of recycled plastic. While the price and performance remain the same as existing products, the application rate of eco-friendly plastic has been increased to a world-class level of 99.5%.
Except for essential parts, all internal and external materials of the product use eco-friendly materials. Compared to general products of the same area, each unit reduces new plastic production by 3.4 kg. This corresponds to saving resources equivalent to 242 PET bottles (500ml each) and reduces carbon emissions by 3.5 kg, which is the amount absorbed by a 30-year-old pine tree. Even when the product is discarded, it can be 100% recycled into another eco-friendly product through separate collection.
Additionally, it is designed with a cylindrical structure that allows 360-degree omnidirectional suction. It can clean simultaneously down to the floor base, quickly and powerfully emitting clean air. It is the first in Korea to feature a detachable washable structure, allowing it to be separated and washed with water, so it can always be used as clean as a new product.
The filter employs an 8-stage 'All-in-One Care Filter' developed in-house, removing 99.99% of ultrafine dust particles as small as 0.01 μm (micrometers, one-millionth of a meter). It also includes a dual antibacterial filter composed of a pre-filter and dust collection filter, suppressing harmful bacteria, mold, and various airborne harmful viruses including COVID-19.
The All Clean Air Purifier Green 242 is designed for 15-pyeong (approximately 49.6 square meters) spaces and is priced at 499,000 KRW for a lump-sum purchase. Rental options are available in two types: on-site and self-service. The on-site rental, which provides professional on-site maintenance service called Safe OK Service every four months, costs 23,900 KRW per month (based on a 5-year mandatory use). The self-service rental, provided every 12 months, costs 20,900 KRW per month (based on a 5-year mandatory use).
An SK Magic official stated, "We plan to continuously introduce Green Collection products that fully apply eco-friendly materials, such as Green 267 and 285, to promote the spread of eco-friendly value consumption."
To commemorate the launch of the All Clean Air Purifier Green 242, SK Magic is offering a 10% discount to customers who purchase with a lump sum until the 30th of next month. Rental customers will receive a 4,000 KRW discount on their monthly rental fee.
