KG Dongbu Steel Applies Color Coated Steel to Thailand's Ground Railway Stations

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyewon] KG Dongbu Steel's color steel sheet 'X-TONE' is illuminating Thailand's mass transit elevated railway.

KG Dongbu Steel announced on the 18th that the BTS Red Line stations in Bangkok, Thailand, where X-TONE was selected as interior material, have been completed.

The Red Line, which runs north to south through Bangkok, is a major public transportation route mainly used when heading to Chiang Mai, Thailand's second largest city. This line connects 10 stations from Bangsue Station as the starting point to Rangsit Station about 26.4 km to the north. KG Dongbu Steel's color steel sheet X-TONE was installed on all interior walls of the Red Line stations.

Construction of the Red Line began in 2018, and after completion earlier this year, it is currently undergoing trial operations, with official opening scheduled for next month. A total of 750 tons of X-TONE color steel sheets were used in this Red Line station project, applying KG Dongbu Steel's color steel sheets to the interior walls of all stations, including the representative Don Mueang Airport Station.

KG Dongbu Steel adopted champagne-colored color steel sheets reminiscent of metal to provide a bright and stable feeling despite the crowded stations. This is because Don Mueang Airport Station, where the international airport is located, is a major hub that both locals and tourists passing through Thailand visit at least once.

The successful completion of the approximately four-year Red Line station project is attributed to the product competitiveness of KG Dongbu Steel's X-TONE and the strong networking with its clients.

KG Dongbu Steel has the know-how to supply high-quality color steel sheets with uniform color in a short period through repetitive sampling work. In addition, by forming a consortium with a client company with whom they have maintained a relationship for over 25 years in Thailand, they participated in this project and secured the contract, surpassing European competitors.
