[Box Office] 'Venom 2' Breaks Through Brief Cold, Surpasses 1 Million Weekend Viewers 'Venom 2' Still

[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Isul] The movie 'Venom 2: Let There Be Carnage' topped the box office in its opening weekend.

According to the Korea Film Council's integrated ticketing system, over the three-day weekend (15th-17th), 'Venom 2: Let There Be Carnage' (hereafter 'Venom 2') attracted 778,077 viewers, securing the number one spot at the box office. The film, which was released on the 13th, surpassed 1 million viewers on the 17th, its fifth day, and recorded a cumulative audience of 1,096,591.

This year, 'Venom 2' is the third film to surpass 1 million viewers in its first week of release, following Marvel's 'Black Widow' and 'Fast & Furious 9: The Ultimate'.

The total number of moviegoers over the weekend was counted at 966,555. With no new releases, this figure nearly doubled compared to the previous week, which had about 443,000 viewers.

Starting from this day, due to government quarantine guidelines, nationwide theater operating hours have been extended until midnight, which is expected to benefit 'Venom 2'.

The second place was taken by '007 No Time To Die' with 65,342 viewers. Since its release on the 29th of last month, it has been seen by 1,150,452 people.

Korean films 'Voice' and 'Miracle', both released on the 15th of last month, ranked third and fourth but only attracted between 10,000 and 30,000 viewers.

Other films in the top 10 included 'Noh Hoe-chan 6411', 'Pok?mon the Movie: Coco, the Child of the Jungle', 'Ten Months of the Future', and the animated film 'Space Dog 3: Tropical Adventure'.
