[Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Jae-hee] Former U.S. President Bill Clinton was discharged six days after being hospitalized.

According to CNBC on the 17th (local time), former President Clinton was discharged around 8 a.m. from the University of California, Irvine Medical Center. He left the hospital arm-in-arm with his wife, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, shaking hands with medical staff and posing for photos. When asked about his condition by reporters, he gave a thumbs-up.

Dr. Alpesh Amin, Clinton’s attending physician, stated in a press release, "Former President Clinton’s body temperature and white blood cell count have returned to normal."

The 75-year-old former president was hospitalized on the 12th (local time) due to a urological infection that had spread to his bloodstream and has been receiving treatment.

It was reported that there was no septic shock, a life-threatening condition.

Clinton’s team announced that all health indicators are improving. During his hospitalization, his wife, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and daughter Chelsea stayed by his side.

Earlier, reports that Clinton had been admitted to the intensive care unit raised concerns about his health in the local media.

After leaving the presidency in 2001, Clinton underwent coronary artery bypass surgery in 2004, lung surgery in 2005, and stent surgery for coronary artery dilation in 2010. Having enjoyed high-fat foods, he changed to a vegetarian diet starting in 2010 after frequent illnesses.
