[Asia Economy Online Issue Team] Singer Seo Sunam confessed a heartbreaking family story, revealing that he lost his health due to the shock caused by his wife's past financial accident.
On the 17th, Seo Sunam appeared on the 35th episode of MBN's 'Korea's Top 1% Health Hearing' to talk about the silent time bomb, diabetes.
On this day, when MC Shin Hyunjoon asked about his age, Seo said, "I was born in 1943, which makes me 79 years old in Korean age," adding, "I experienced the Korean War when I was 8 years old."
When asked if he ever had a slump, he said, "I sang with Ha Cheongil for 20 years, but after Ha Cheongil started a business and succeeded, we parted ways," and continued, "I pushed myself too hard alone and my health deteriorated. In my late 50s, I went through my wife's financial accident, and the damage from that time caused me to develop diabetes, hyperlipidemia, and a herniated disc."
In the past, Seo Sunam had shared that he even considered an extreme choice after his ex-wife ran away leaving a debt of 1.6 billion won. Regarding this, Seo revealed, "There was an unfortunate financial accident at home exactly in 2000," and said that his runaway wife left behind a debt of 1.6 billion won and lost all their assets.
Seo also said, "I was very stressed from the financial accident, so I went to singing classes as soon as I opened my eyes and came home exhausted almost every evening," adding, "I relieved stress by eating, which led to eating more and not exercising, and I was diagnosed with diabetes. For me, it was almost like a death sentence."
He went on to say, "Living life is like that, not just for me but for everyone. Everyone faces a turning point at least once. They say a person experiences three chances for success and three life-threatening crises. I had three crises as well," and added, "These days, I enjoy photography as a hobby. Now, health is by far my biggest concern."
