[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Soyoung] Former Saenuri Party (predecessor of the People Power Party) lawmaker Jeon Yeok expressed her public support for former Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol and did not hide her disappointment with lawmaker Hong Joon-pyo.
On the 16th, Jeon posted on her Facebook, "It was not easy to choose between Yoon Seok-yeol and Hong Joon-pyo, but after watching yesterday's 'one-on-one debate,' I made my decision. I have firmly decided on candidate Yoon Seok-yeol."
She explained, "(Former Prosecutor General Yoon) showed the strength, will, and fighting spirit to defeat Lee Jae-myung, who has four prior convictions for extortion and threats," adding, "I became confident that if we strictly follow the Yoon Seok-yeol user manual, we can create a world where the people and the law are the standards."
She continued, "Hong Joon-pyo was a leftover product. He was the same 'Hong Joon-pyo' as in the last presidential election," criticizing, "His pledges were a recycling of 'MB's 747,' and his slogan was 'Give the rich a chance to spend money, and give the poor a chance to become rich,' which was a rerun of the slogan that impressed me last time."
She then stated, "Yesterday's debate was a complete defeat for Hong Joon-pyo. It was not that he 'deliberately held back.' He lacked energy, his vigor was insufficient, and his sharpness was dulled. He was not the 'dazzling Hong Joon-pyo' of the past."
Furthermore, she reflected, "Watching yesterday's presidential debate, I realized that the era of 'politician Hong Joon-pyo' has ended," and "Hong Joon-pyo's 'expiration date' has passed. As someone who has supported Hong Joon-pyo for a long time, it was a sad and heartbreaking debate."
Jeon added, "We just need to choose a good gladiator who can defeat 'four-time convict' Lee Jae-myung. I have decided to vote for 'Yoon Seok-yeol,'" writing, "Just as one would face off against the still-vibrant power of Moon Jae-in, Yoon Seok-yeol is the candidate who can decisively defeat Lee Jae-myung."
She emphasized, "I have never met Yoon Seok-yeol even once. I have no personal connection whatsoever. I choose Yoon Seok-yeol solely for the future of the Republic of Korea and our children," stressing, "I choose Yoon Seok-yeol for the future of our children. Because we cannot allow the Republic of Korea to become the Asura 'Annam-si'."
