Seven Eleven, 'Handon Recipe League'... "Lunchbox Developed Directly by Consumers" On the 15th, Seven Eleven held the 'Handon Recipe League' at Now Cooking Studio in Seodaemun-gu, Seoul, in collaboration with the Handon Self-Support Fund.

[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chunhan] Seven Eleven announced on the 18th that it held the 'Handon Recipe League' in collaboration with the Handon Pork Fund Management Committee.


This competition was divided into the 'Diet League,' which develops diet menus using low-fat cuts of Handon pork, and the 'Naesipi League,' which develops unique recipes with creative ideas.


Among the approximately 100 recipes submitted over a month starting in July, 10 teams advanced to the finals after preliminary and online rounds. Over 24,000 people participated in voting during the two-week online preliminaries. Finalists presented their dishes on-site within a 30-minute time limit. Four expert judges, including Choi Yumi, head of Seven Eleven's food team, and Lee Nanwoo, a culinary researcher, tasted and evaluated the dishes. The first-place winning recipe will be commercialized and launched as a Seven Eleven lunchbox product in early next year.


The grand prize winners were Kim Daeun (24 years old) from the Diet League and Ham Shinae (47 years old) from the Naesipi League. The Diet League grand prize dish, the Dwaejieoteu Cheese Rollgas Lunchbox, is a diet meal balanced nutritionally with grilled Handon cheese rollgas served with salad pasta. The Naesipi League grand prize dish, Pork Mayo Deopbap, features spicy Handon pork enjoyed with hot mayo sauce and Cheongyang chili sauce. The grand prize teams received 1 million won and a Hurom Super Steam Pot kitchen appliance as a prize.


A Seven Eleven official said, “Many people showed interest in this Handon recipe contest and proposed many innovative recipes. As demand for convenience store ready meals continues to grow, we will actively communicate with consumers and strive to develop differentiated products.”
