Watch the Nuriho Launch Scene Remotely Without In-Person Attendance

Watch the Nuriho Launch Scene Remotely Without In-Person Attendance

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bong-su] Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 situation, the first launch scene of Korea's space launch vehicle Nuriho must be watched 'contactlessly' through online videos and broadcasts.

The Ministry of Science and ICT and Goheung County Office in Jeollanam-do announced on the 17th that they request the general public to refrain from visiting the site related to the launch of the Korean launch vehicle Nuriho on the 21st.

Nuriho is scheduled to launch around 4 PM on the day of the launch, depending on weather conditions. Around this time, the government will completely restrict access within a 3 km radius on land around the Naro Space Center to ensure the safety of personnel, equipment, and facilities. At sea, an area of 24 km width by 78 km length along the flight path will be off-limits.

To prevent the spread of COVID-19, the Space Launch Observatory, where the general public cheered during previous Naroho launches, will be closed by Goheung County from 2 PM on the launch day. There are no restrictions or personnel limits in nearby areas such as Yeosu City and Goheung County. However, local governments in these areas have urged groups gathering to voluntarily comply with quarantine rules such as social distancing, considering the quarantine situation.

Instead, the Ministry of Science and ICT, together with the Korea Aerospace Research Institute, will broadcast a live stream of the launch site through Naver TV and YouTube channels. On the day, viewers can access the broadcast via a link at the bottom of the Naver search window, and participate in real-time through comments during the live stream. Multiple broadcasters are scheduled to live broadcast the launch site on the day, allowing viewing via broadcast TV.
