[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] The police have launched an internal investigation following an incident in which a police officer in his 30s left a suicide note blaming his colleagues before taking his own life.
Incheon Police Agency announced on the 17th that it has started an investigation into the colleagues mentioned in the suicide note left by Sergeant A (33), who was found dead the previous day and was affiliated with the Incheon Police Agency.
Sergeant A was found dead around 8:45 a.m. the previous day in a flower bed at an apartment complex in Siheung, Gyeonggi Province. Based on nearby CCTV footage and the suicide note left by Sergeant A, the police believe he took his own life by jumping.
The handwritten suicide note reportedly contained expressions of resentment toward the colleagues in his department, mentioning their names.
A police official stated, "Sergeant A usually got along well with other employees, and there have been no complaints or investigation requests regarding his department colleagues," adding, "We plan to summon and investigate the colleagues mentioned by Sergeant A one by one as soon as we verify the authenticity of the contents of the suicide note."
