[Asia Economy Reporter Suyeon Woo] LG Science Park announced on the 17th that it held the 'LG DX Fair' event for two days starting from the 14th to accelerate and spread the group's digital transformation (DX·Digital Transformation) by awarding outstanding ideas and sharing cases.
The LG DX Fair, held for the first time this year, is an event to accelerate digital transformation through voluntary participation of employees, consisting of various programs such as ▲DX Ideathon ▲DX Case Sharing ▲Global Scholar Seminar.
'DX Ideathon' is a participatory program combining the words idea and marathon, where employees can freely propose new ideas that can be attempted to innovate existing work with digital technology to create customer value or lead the market, and mutually develop through free feedback among employees.
This event was held on the metaverse platform Gather Town so that any employee could easily participate and communicate freely. LG is expanding the use of the metaverse platform, including the recent open innovation event 'LG Connect,' as well as recruitment briefings and new employee training of each affiliate.
About 160 teams participated in the idea contest held by LG Science Park throughout September. Judges composed of digital experts from affiliates in areas such as artificial intelligence, big data, and cloud evaluated the ideas proposed by employees based on problem definition for 'creating customer value,' utilization of digital technology, creativity, and potential for spreading within the group.
As a result, six teams were selected, including ▲a chemistry-specialized AI model that analyzes 1,000 chemical-related papers and patents containing complex information such as substances and properties daily to extract desired information for researchers ▲big data automatic analysis technology that reduces equipment defect diagnosis time in processes from 1-2 hours to 1 minute ▲AI service engineer David, who communicates simultaneously with 10,000 customers 24/7 and resolves their inquiries. Ideas with potential for new business commercialization will be handed over to related business departments for feasibility review and decision on execution.
LG Science Park also awarded the 'DX Special Award' to those who contributed to society with outstanding digital technology at this event. The LG CNS Architecture Optimization Team, which won the DX Special Award, played a leading role in resolving the COVID-19 vaccine reservation system failure free of charge in July, helping citizens to book vaccines stably, and also acted as a problem solver when EBS remote class connection issues occurred last year.
Meanwhile, LG Science Park also held a session to share DX cases to accelerate the spread of digital transformation, and Nathan Fur, a global scholar in digital transformation strategy from INSEAD Business School in France, gave a lecture on the topic of 'Discovering New Business Opportunities through Digital Transformation.'
Lee Samsu, CDO (Chief Digital Officer) of LG Science Park, said, "LG's digital transformation is a change created by the voluntary participation of employees," adding, "A culture of continuous challenge will be the driving force behind change."
