[Asia Economy Reporter Seulgina Cho] LG Uplus announced on the 17th that it received the 'Corporate Division Hall of Fame Award (Merit Award)' at the 27th ITS World Congress held from the 11th to the 15th at Messe Hamburg, Germany.
The ITS World Congress is the most prestigious exhibition and academic conference in the field of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS). The Hall of Fame Award is selected by the ITS World Congress boards from three continents, evaluating technological advancement, execution capability, and future leadership.
LG Uplus, which is carrying out the largest-scale ITS construction project in Korea in Gangneung City, was recognized for developing ITS innovative systems and services and playing a leading role in the international ITS community. It is the second Korean company to receive the award after Korea Expressway Corporation in 2014, and the first private company to do so. Gangneung City also received the Asia-Pacific regional local government merit award at this congress, recognizing Korea's public-private ITS capabilities.
LG Uplus participated in the 'Korea Pavilion' exhibition together with Gangneung City at this World Congress. They attracted significant attention by promoting the bid to host the 2026 Gangneung ITS Congress to ITS stakeholders worldwide.
Jowon Seok, Head of LG Uplus Corporate New Business Group (Executive Director), said, "By winning the Gangneung City ITS infrastructure construction project worth 45 billion KRW in June, LG Uplus was able to demonstrate its ITS technological capabilities and project execution skills," adding, "We will leverage this award to work with Gangneung City to successfully host the 2026 ITS World Congress and strengthen our position as a leading company by expanding the domestic ITS business base."
