On the 16th, the Yeonsu Police Station in Incheon announced that they had arrested and were investigating a man in his 40s, Mr. A, on suspicion of attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon. Mr. A is suspected of threatening a woman in her 20s, Ms. B, with a weapon in front of a detached house in Yeonsu-gu, Incheon, around 8 p.m. on the 14th, attempting to steal valuables and then fleeing.
He grabbed Ms. B as she was opening the front door of her home and entering, threatening her with the weapon. However, when Ms. B screamed, he fled. Ms. B was not physically injured by Mr. A’s crime but is reported to be suffering from psychological shock.
The police received a report from Ms. B’s family and conducted an investigation by checking nearby closed-circuit television (CCTV) and questioning witnesses. Mr. A was apprehended at his residence in Incheon on the same day. The investigation revealed that Mr. A followed Ms. B, whom he did not know at all, to her home and committed the crime.
A police official stated, "Mr. A has admitted to the charges, and we will investigate the motive behind the crime," adding, "We also plan to apply for an arrest warrant for Mr. A."
