Applications open until the 5th... Approximately 12 citizens, groups, and officials in 5 fields including tourism content and tourism marketing
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] On the 17th, the Seoul Metropolitan Government announced that it is recruiting candidates for the '2021 Seoul Tourism Awards' to discover and reward unsung heroes who contributed to overcoming the crisis in the tourism industry and the development of Seoul tourism despite the difficult conditions caused by COVID-19.
Introduced for the first time in 2019 to boost the pride and honor of tourism professionals who laid the foundation for Seoul's growth as a world-class tourism city, the Seoul Tourism Awards is now in its third year.
In particular, this award ceremony is expected to be a good opportunity to encourage the efforts of tourism professionals who have faced difficulties during the transition of the government's quarantine system to phased daily recovery (With Corona) and to reaffirm the determination for Seoul tourism's leap forward.
The grand prize will be awarded to approximately 12 individuals or groups across five categories: tourism professionals, tourism content, tourism infrastructure, tourism marketing, and tourism policy. Awards will be given to individuals or groups in each respective category. Eligibility requires individuals or groups with at least one year of achievements in the relevant field as of the recommendation date, excluding those who have received mayoral or ministerial-level commendations within the past two years as of the recommendation date.
Candidate recommendations can be submitted by mail or email to the Seoul Tourism Association by the 25th. Awardees will be finally selected through expert fact-finding investigations and internal review by the Seoul Metropolitan Government. The award ceremony is scheduled to take place in December.
Choi Kyung-joo, Director of the Seoul Tourism and Sports Bureau, said, “We thank all tourism professionals who have dedicated themselves to overcoming the crisis amid the great difficulties faced by the tourism industry due to COVID-19,” adding, “With the transition to a phased daily recovery quarantine system, Seoul City will continuously strive to ensure that tourism professionals and Seoul tourism can rise strongly once again.”
