From the 18th, 'Beauty City Seoul' Brand Contest... 20 Works Selected

[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Seoul Metropolitan Government is officially launching branding efforts to attract domestic and international attention to 'Beauty City Seoul,' aiming to restore global urban competitiveness and transform the city into an attractive hub where people, businesses, and investments converge once again.

On the 17th, Seoul announced that it will hold a naming and video contest for the 'Beauty City Seoul' brand from October 18 to November 7. The theme is "Seoul leading global beauty trends and emerging as the central city of the world beauty industry."

Seoul aims to focus global attention through a brand name and video content that well represent Beauty City Seoul and encompass related policies, delivering the message, "If you want to know the latest beauty trends, come to Seoul."

The contest is open not only to Korean nationals but also to domestic and overseas foreigners who love Seoul and are interested in K-Beauty. There are two categories: naming and video. For naming, participants submit a brand name that can express 'Beauty City Seoul.' For video, participants can submit digital files (MP4) of videos up to 20 seconds long in any format, including advertisements, animations, VR, music videos, etc.

Naming entries will be judged in three stages: preliminary screening (once), expert review (three times), and citizen evaluation (once). Video entries will be judged in two stages: preliminary screening (once) and expert review (twice). The results will be announced in December on the Seoul Metropolitan Government website and the 'Seoul in My Hands' website.

Winners will receive prizes up to 5 million KRW and their works will be used for projects and promotions to foster Seoul's beauty industry. Naming winners' works will be used in promotional videos and advertisements for the Beauty City Seoul project, while video winners' works will be broadcast through Seoul's domestic and international SNS channels and used at Seoul events.

A total of 20 works will be selected: one gold prize, four silver prizes, and five bronze prizes in each category. Yoon Jong-jang, Director of Citizen Communication Planning at Seoul City, said, "Seoul plans to actively pursue branding to promote the city's K-Beauty industry worldwide while implementing various development and fostering policies to establish a global beauty industry hub, a core task of the comprehensive 10-year Seoul Vision 2030 plan. We expect to generate interest in Beauty City Seoul through excellent works created directly by global citizens who love Seoul and are interested in K-Beauty."
