[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Lee Jae-myung, the Democratic Party's presidential candidate and Governor of Gyeonggi Province, expressed optimism about the government's revised social distancing adjustment plan, saying, "The recovery to daily life seems to be becoming visible."
On the 15th, Lee stated on Facebook, "A phased measure toward With Corona has been prepared," adding, "I particularly note and welcome the significant relaxation of capacity limits for weddings, religious facilities, lodging facilities, and sports event attendance in this measure."
He explained, "Weddings are now allowed up to a maximum of 250 people (49 unvaccinated + 201 vaccinated), regardless of whether meals are served," and added, "The Democratic Party has held many consultations with organizations such as the Newlywed Couples Association and actively proposed this to the government."
He also said, "It is true that newlyweds have been preparing their weddings amid anxiety and guilt rather than excitement and blessings due to the prolonged COVID-19 situation," and added, "They could not even comfortably prepare a meal to thank their guests, but with this measure, I hope the bride and groom starting a new chapter can hold their weddings more at ease than before."
Lee further stated, "Applying incentives for vaccinated individuals at religious facilities and sports event attendance, and lifting room operation restrictions at lodging facilities in stages 3 and 4 will bring our daily life recovery one step closer," and added, "Extending restaurant and cafe operating hours to midnight and expanding the number of private gatherings will also bring greater hope to self-employed and small business owners."
He especially emphasized, "The new social distancing adjustment in October must be successfully settled so that recovery to daily life can gradually proceed in more areas," and evaluated, "There were many consultations between the Democratic Party and related organizations, and this result was achieved through active proposals to the government."
