[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heeyoon] Daekyo announced on the 15th that, together with the Daekyo Cultural Foundation, it will operate a Jeju pop-up store as part of the 'The Biggest Bookstore in the World (Segabang)' project, which supports the sustainable operation of local bookstores.

The Segabang Jeju pop-up store will be held for three days starting today at 'Ogakjip,' a local complex cultural space located in Jeju City. It was prepared to share content from local bookstores.

The theme of this pop-up store is 'Sasisachek (四時四冊) - Books that Fill the Gaps in a Day.' Linked with 'Segabang X Paper Magazine Club (Segabang Jeju Branch),' which opened in Jeju City last July, the pop-up store will be operated in the form of a curated exhibition where bookstore keepers recommend books that are good to read in short breaks throughout the day.

Segabang Jeju Branch is a reading culture platform jointly created by Daekyo, Jeju City Cultural City Center, and Jeju Urban Regeneration Center. It is characterized as a space that helps the growth of local bookstores and allows citizens to enjoy a reading culture.

A Daekyo official said, “This Jeju pop-up store will be held as a book exhibition introducing the curation of 30 partner bookstores selected for Segabang Season 3,” adding, “Through various online and offline events related to books, we plan to showcase the joy of reading that can be found in everyday life, so we ask for the citizens’ great interest.”
