'Venom 2' Lone Run on Opening Weekend Movie 'Venom 2' Still


[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Isul] The returning 'Venom' is running solo.


According to the Korea Film Council's integrated box office data on the 15th, 'Venom 2: Let There Be Carnage' (hereafter 'Venom 2') attracted 114,391 viewers on the 14th, securing the number one spot at the box office.


'Venom 2' (directed by Andy Serkis) is an action blockbuster depicting an inevitable showdown between the lovable villain hero Venom and the worst villain ever, Carnage, who appears to herald an era of chaos. It is the sequel to 'Venom,' which was released in 2018 and was seen by 3.88 million people domestically.


The film, released on the 13th, drew about 200,000 viewers on its first day, with a cumulative audience of 318,521. As of the morning of the 15th, it recorded a reservation rate of 63.7%, maintaining interest through the first weekend.


In second place was '007 No Time to Die,' with 9,106 viewers. Released on the 29th of last month, it attracted 1,085,115 viewers but has a significant gap compared to 'Venom 2.'


Among Korean films, 'Voice,' which centers on voice phishing, ranked third but only gathered 5,066 viewers. Other films following include the documentary 'Noh Hoe-chan 6411,' 'Miracle,' and the independent film 'Ten Months of the Future.'


The total number of moviegoers who visited theaters that day was counted at 150,590.
