[Asia Economy Reporter Suyeon Woo] Everland, operated by Samsung C&T Resort Division, announced on the 14th that it will showcase an artificial intelligence (AI)-based media art video produced in collaboration with Hongik University to customers starting from the 16th.
Everland celebrated its 45th anniversary this year and signed an industry-academia cooperation agreement (MOU) with Hongik University in March to jointly develop AI-based immersive content.
Through this, Everland has been preparing various media art videos using the 'ultra-high-resolution AI style transfer' technology together with students majoring in virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) content at the Graduate School of Visual Communication at Hongik University. The 'ultra-high-resolution AI style transfer' technology, owned by Professor Han Jeong-yeop's research team at Hongik University, refers to an image reconstruction technique that uses AI technology to add the sensibility of artworks to existing photos and videos.

The media art videos created through this industry-academia collaboration consist of four pieces in total. The students directly filmed various Everland contents such as characters, rides, gardens, and performances, and applied AI style transfer technology to produce original videos that stand out with fantastic and fairy-tale-like artistic qualities.
The four videos, each averaging 1 to 2 minutes in length, will be exhibited 3 to 4 times a day from the 16th until November on a large LED screen measuring 24 meters in length and 11 meters in height located at the Everland Four Seasons Garden. They can also be viewed at the Hongik University VR Museum. In December, new media art videos created jointly by Everland and students from the Graduate School of Visual Communication at Hongik University will be additionally exhibited.
Graduate student Lee Ha-eun (PhD course, 29 years old), who participated in the video production, said, "I tried to express fantastic and extraordinary stories imaginable at Everland through AI-based media art videos," adding, "I hope everyone who watches this video will return to their childhood innocence and have a healing time through this work."
An Everland official stated, "Not only the production of media art videos through this industry-academia collaboration but also expanding customer participation in online video content, such as the 'Halloween Showkers Member Recruitment' challenge where customers directly uploaded videos on SNS, will be actively communicated going forward."
