"Can We Expect It This Time?"... Samsung 'Galaxy S21 FE' Expected to Be Unveiled This Month

[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Eun-mo] Due to the prolonged semiconductor shortage crisis, the release of Samsung Electronics' quasi-premium smartphone, the 'Galaxy S21 Fan Edition (FE),' has been continuously delayed, sparking rumors of cancellation. However, there is now a prospect that it could be launched in October.

On the 13th (local time), IT specialized media PhoneArena reported that the S21 FE might be unveiled at the Unpacked event scheduled for the 20th.

Samsung Electronics sent out invitations for the 'Galaxy Unpacked Part 2' to global media and partners the day before. The event is set to take place online on the 20th at 11 PM Korean time (10 AM Eastern Time, USA).

At this Unpacked event, Samsung is expected to introduce a way to customize the colors of the 'Galaxy Z Flip3' similar to its bespoke high-end home appliances. Samsung explained in the invitation that it will "introduce a new experience that allows users to express themselves through mobile devices." Additionally, there is speculation that a BTS edition of the Z Flip3 may also be unveiled.

PhoneArena reported that the S21 FE will be revealed at this event and pre-orders will begin. The official release is expected on the 29th. Citing an internal Samsung Electronics source, PhoneArena added that "some accessories have already started to be supplied to key regions."

The S21 FE is a quasi-premium product that maintains the core features of the flagship 'Galaxy S' series while lowering the price. It was initially expected to launch in August this year but faced difficulties such as a sudden halt in production preparations due to the global semiconductor component shortage.

The S21 FE is known to feature a 6.5-inch display supporting a 120Hz refresh rate and will be equipped with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 888 processor. The screen resolution is 1080x2009 with 480 DPI. The camera setup is expected to include a 12-megapixel front selfie camera, and on the rear, a 32-megapixel main camera, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera, and an 8-megapixel telephoto camera.
