On the 7th, diagnosed with cerebral hemorrhage after Moderna vaccination in Daejeon
[Asia Economy Reporter Na Ye-eun] As the government is actively considering the introduction of a COVID-19 vaccine pass, there have been increasing reports of people claiming to have died or experienced side effects after vaccination.
On the 13th, a post titled "Death after the first Moderna vaccine dose" was uploaded on the Blue House's public petition board. The petitioner, identified as Mr. A, who said he is the deceased's son, stated, "My father received his first Moderna vaccine dose at a clinic in Gunsan around 9 a.m. on the 23rd of last month."
He added, "On the night of the 27th, between the third and fourth day after vaccination, around 1 a.m., my father complained of severe chest pain. Shortly after, he vomited blood and collapsed, and suffered cardiac arrest on the spot. We were notified of his death around 3 a.m."
He continued, "The emergency room doctor said that my father's platelet count was nearly 70% lower than the levels recorded at his regular hospital check-ups and suggested that 'the abnormal decrease in platelets could be attributed to the vaccine.' My father had no underlying conditions or other illnesses," he claimed.
He appealed, "My father suddenly passed away at the age of 43, leaving behind my mother, who has become the head of the household overnight, and my younger sibling who is only 11 years old. We want an accurate investigation into the cause of his death to ensure there is no injustice."
On the 7th, in Daejeon, a man in his 50s was diagnosed with acute cerebral hemorrhage after receiving his second Moderna vaccine dose. On the previous day (the 12th), a post titled "My father collapsed due to cerebral hemorrhage after the second Moderna dose" was uploaded on the Blue House public petition board.
The petitioner, Mr. B, said, "My father, a man in his 50s who used to run 5 km daily and enjoyed working out?healthier than me, a man in his 20s?was diagnosed with acute cerebral hemorrhage after his second Moderna vaccine dose and has been transferred to the intensive care unit."
He explained, "My father received his second Moderna dose on October 4. On that day, he experienced headaches, muscle pain, and flu-like symptoms but still went to work. These symptoms persisted until October 7, when he suddenly experienced paralysis in his left leg, vomited, and collapsed, preventing him from going to work. A coworker called for help, and he was transported by ambulance and diagnosed with cerebral hemorrhage."
He appealed, "Our family is still in disbelief after receiving such devastating news about my father, who works alone in Daejeon. Just last week, we went hiking and grocery shopping together. Before entering the ICU, he spoke unclearly and was unable to use his left arm and leg. It was extremely shocking."
Meanwhile, on the 13th, the government launched the public-private joint Daily Welfare Committee to prepare for phased daily recovery and discussed practical measures for transitioning the quarantine system, including the vaccine pass. Prime Minister Kim Boo-kyum presented future policy directions as △ phased and gradual daily recovery △ inclusive daily recovery △ daily recovery together with the people.
