SoftBank Ventures Invests in 3D Sketch Technology Company 'SketchSoft'

[Asia Economy Reporter Bu Aeri] SoftBank Ventures announced on the 13th that it has invested in 'SketchSoft,' a company developing three-dimensional (3D) sketch software.

The investment amounts to 3.8 billion KRW, with participation from SV Investment and Bluepoint Partners.

SketchSoft is a technology startup established in 2020 with the goal of creating the "easiest and fastest 3D sketchbook." The founder and CEO, Yonggwan Kim, is a young 29-year-old CEO who previously worked as a researcher at the Sketch Lab in the Department of Industrial Design at KAIST.

SketchSoft's 3D sketch software, 'Feather,' is a tool that allows users to draw ideas directly in 3D as if using pen and paper. It solves the complexity and inefficiency of existing 3D creation tools, enabling anyone to easily and quickly convert ideas into 3D data.

From the startup preparation stage, SketchSoft collaborated with KLIO Studio to reduce the 3D modeling work time for autonomous electric vehicles from two weeks to two days.

Currently, SketchSoft is collecting feedback from creators through its beta service. The software has been introduced into the curriculum of the Department of Industrial Design at Hongik University to explore potential in the education market. After the official launch within the year, the company plans to establish itself as a popular creation tool for professionals in related industries and tablet users worldwide.

Heechae Jung, a principal at SoftBank Ventures, said, "We expect SketchSoft to lead a new ecosystem through easy and fast 3D content creation tools amid the metaverse trend."

CEO Kim stated, "Our vision is to create a tool that allows 3D ideas to be expressed first, just like jotting down thoughts in a notepad," adding, "We are aggressively recruiting talent to target the global markets in various fields such as design, art, and entertainment based on 3D creation."
