[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-joo] The Korea Road Traffic Authority announced on the 13th that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with CJ Logistics to ensure traffic safety for delivery workers.

Through this agreement, both organizations will cooperate in mutually providing administrative support to promote traffic safety education for delivery workers and in awareness campaigns to establish a safe traffic culture.

The Authority will provide customized education to delivery drivers on the revised Road Traffic Act and traffic accident cases, and encourage enrollment in the "Good Driving Mileage" program, which reduces license penalty points for one year of accident-free and violation-free driving.

Additionally, they plan to build various collaborative systems, such as conducting "traffic safety consulting" to inspect roads and traffic safety facilities near CJ Logistics' hub terminals where large trucks operate, diagnosing traffic accident risk factors, and cooperating to secure traffic safety in local communities.

Lee Joo-min, Director of the Korea Road Traffic Authority, said, "As social distancing continues and non-face-to-face consumption expands, many people are conveniently using delivery services; however, the working environment for delivery logistics workers is becoming increasingly dangerous. We will join forces to cultivate traffic safety awareness among delivery workers and spread a safe traffic culture."
