[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Seung-hyun Jeong] The 'Mokpo Port Festival,' a representative event of Mokpo, Jeonnam, will be held online in response to the fourth wave of COVID-19.

The city initially planned to hold the festival both online and offline from the 14th to the 17th, but on the 12th, it announced that it had finally decided to hold the event only non-face-to-face to prevent the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic and the spread of variant viruses in the community.

The Mokpo Port Festival, held annually to showcase the identity of the port city by reenacting the Pasi market, will be available live this year through Mokpo City's official YouTube channel and the Mokpo Culture and Tourism website under the theme "The Taste, Style, and Romance of the Port."

Starting with citizens' congratulatory messages, a large paper boat lighting ceremony performance, and the opening ceremony of the port music concert, various online programs such as live commerce, TV home shopping sales of local specialties, Mokpo Pasi quizzes, Mokpo Port auction events, and performances by local art groups will be held.

In particular, the online lecture "Understanding Mokpo History Correctly," conducted by history experts, the "Mokpo 1-Night Virtual Tour" visiting Mokpo's hot places with a famous travel YouTuber, and "Mokpo Taste, Cook!" which provides cooking videos using local specialties by famous Mokpo restaurant chefs, are attracting attention.

Additionally, the online "Mokpo Fisheries Cooperative Auction Event," where local specialties are auctioned live on YouTube for participants at the Mokpo Fisheries Cooperative auction house, the "Mokpo Mission Tour," where participants take photos at designated Mokpo tourist spots and post them on personal SNS, and the "TikTok Port Dance Challenge," where participants post dance videos, are also engaging programs.

Furthermore, programs promoting local culture and arts will be introduced, such as the "Online Busking" conducted by the Mokpo Municipal Art Troupe at Mokpo's tourist attractions and the "Online Mokpo Regional Art Group Performances" involving various art groups from Mokpo.

The city plans to create a festive atmosphere with a congratulatory video message from Yeom Hye-seon, a female volleyball national team player from Mokpo who played at the Tokyo Olympics, and a spot video, along with a YouTube subscription and comment participant raffle event.

Mayor Kim Jong-sik of Mokpo stated, "Regrettably, due to the prevention of COVID-19 spread, the event will be held only non-face-to-face. We hope many citizens and tourists participate in the rich and diverse online programs and enjoy the charm of the port city Mokpo."
