Police Assign Case of Informant Jo Seong-eun in 'Accusation Solicitation' Incident Cho Seong-eun, the first whistleblower of the "accusation manipulation" suspicion, is answering reporters' questions on the afternoon of the 5th at the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office in Seocho-gu, Seoul, before filing a complaint with the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office against former Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol, and lawmakers Kim Woong, Kwon Seong-dong, Jang Je-won, and former lawmakers Joo Gwang-deok, Park Min-sik, and Kim Kyung-jin for violations of the Public Official Election Act and defamation. [Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-joo] The police have assigned and started investigating the case in which whistleblower Jo Seong-eun accused former Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol and others in connection with the 'accusation manipulation' allegations.


A Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency official stated on the 12th, "The case was transferred from the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office to the police on the 7th and assigned to the Anti-Corruption and Public Crime Investigation Unit, and will proceed from now on."


Earlier, Jo claimed that the allegations of spreading false information under the Information and Communications Network Act and violations of the Public Official Election Act, which were made by Yoon's former campaign team when they reported her to the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials (CIO) on the 13th of last month, were false. On the 5th of this month, she filed a complaint with the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office against former Prosecutor General Yoon, and People Power Party lawmakers Kim Woong, Kwon Seong-dong, Jang Je-won, as well as former lawmakers Joo Kwang-deok, Park Min-sik, and Kim Kyung-jin, on charges of false accusation, defamation, and violations of the Public Official Election Act.


The police are also investigating the case in which the Judicial Examination Preparation Group (Sajunmo) filed a complaint against Lee Jin-dong, the publisher of News Bus, who first reported the accusation manipulation allegations. Choi Gwan-ho, head of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, explained, "We have completed the complainant's investigation and are proceeding with the case," adding, "Other aspects are being coordinated, and the investigation is proceeding normally."
