Military Driver's License Renewal with Regular License Without Documents

Military Driver's License Renewal with Regular License Without Documents Military vehicle traffic accidents within the base continue to occur steadily, but there are concerns that penalties such as fines may lack effectiveness.

[Asia Economy Yang Nak-gyu, Military Specialist Reporter] The procedure for discharged soldiers to renew their military driver's licenses as regular licenses will be simplified.

On the 12th, the Ministry of National Defense announced that, in collaboration with the Military Manpower Administration, the National Police Agency, and the Korea Road Traffic Authority, they have improved related laws and systems to allow the 'Military Driving Experience Certificate' of discharged soldiers to be verified through the administrative network using the 'Administrative Information Joint Utilization Network' without any paperwork.

Previously, discharged soldiers had to obtain the driving experience certificate directly from their discharge unit and submit the document to the Korea Road Traffic Authority to renew their military driver's license as a regular license. However, this process will now be computerized.

The method for exchanging a military driver's license for a regular license can be found on the Korea Road Traffic Authority's Safe Driving Integrated Civil Service website.

A Ministry of National Defense official stated, "The burden of visiting the discharge unit to prepare documents will be eliminated, and the required documents will be reduced, which is expected to have a significant effect in terms of social costs, time, and public service."
