On the 12th, 'Sabi, Garden of Light' Opens... Showcasing 5G Media Art Based on 5G 28GHz Until the 13th of Next Month
[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] LG Uplus announced on the 12th that it will showcase an immersive service based on 5G 28 gigahertz (GHz) technology linked to the Baekje World Heritage at the cultural heritage night event ‘Sabi, Garden of Light’ held at Jeongnimsaji in Buyeo.
‘Sabi, Garden of Light’ is a cultural heritage exhibition, performance, and experience event held at Jeongnimsaji in Buyeo-gun, Chungnam Province, until the 13th of next month. Hosted by Buyeo-gun, the Cultural Heritage Administration, and Chungcheongnam-do, and organized by the Chungnam Information & Culture Industry Promotion Agency, the event aims to promote the value of the Baekje World Heritage site registered with UNESCO.
LG Uplus is responsible for introducing 5G 28 GHz wireless technology to the historic site where wired network installation is difficult. Without any construction or work around the cultural heritage site, it provides visitors with Wi-Fi zones and enables the use of large-capacity content within the site. Additionally, LG Uplus plans to contribute to regional revitalization by jointly producing high-definition content introducing Buyeo with the Chungnam Information & Culture Industry Promotion Agency.
In the afternoon, coinciding with the opening ceremony, 5G 28 GHz-based media art and outdoor lighting technology will be showcased. Throughout the month-long cultural heritage night event, visitors will enjoy a colorful yet restrained presentation of Baekje’s beautiful cultural heritage through projection mapping, lasers, large LED screens, mesh screens, optical fibers, and acrylic sculptures.
On the 16th and 17th, a 5G 28 GHz experience booth will be set up at one side of Jeongnimsaji, helping visitors enjoy various immersive contents with the world’s first 5G augmented reality (AR) glasses, ‘U+ Real Glass.’ Visitors can watch an idol performance next to the five-story stone pagoda at Jeongnimsaji through AR. Furthermore, a 5G 28 GHz-based content experience space for the MZ generation will be operated. Visitors can watch Buyeo tour content featuring popular idol groups provided by ‘U+ Idol Live’ on about 20 5G 28 GHz experience smartphones available on-site.
Yoonho Choi, Executive Director of LG Uplus XR Business, said, “The 21st-century U+5G and XR technologies have harmoniously created engaging sights and experiences by meeting the 1,500-year-old Baekje heritage. We hope that LG Uplus’s immersive technology will continue to support the growth and development of local communities.”
