[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] What roles should Busan City and universities each play to lead future promising industries?
Busan City and Silla University will hold an "Open Campus Meeting" on the 12th at 3:30 PM on the Silla University campus on this topic.
The Open Campus Meeting is a discussion planned by Busan Mayor Park Hyung-joon, who visits universities in person to meet with students and business representatives to seek sustainable development plans through strengthening industry-university cooperation and inducing university innovation.
This is the third meeting held at Silla University, following Dong-Eui Science University in June and Pukyong National University in September.
At today's event, the university will present an innovative vision linked to future promising industries and discuss ▲ fostering the companion animal industry such as establishing a companion animal examination and research center, companion animal education and rehabilitation training ▲ building a large-scale data center utilizing university idle land to provide large servers and cloud services, and training specialized software (SW) personnel ▲ fostering the aviation industry by training professional aviation personnel such as pilots, mechanics, and flight managers in preparation for the Gadeok New Airport era, as well as developing aviation material and component technologies.
The discussion will be attended by Mayor Park Hyung-joon, ▲ Silla University President Kim Choong-seok and other university officials, ▲ Silvia Kim, CEO of DHNG Ganjeolmadang, a dog-friendly cafe, ▲ Choi Yong, Busan branch president of the Korea Kennel Club, ▲ Director Ha Hyun-joo of J&H Bio, a health functional food specialist company, ▲ Baek Hyung-shin, CEO of BAS, a ground handling company at Gimhae Airport for Air Busan, ▲ Professor Kim Andre of Korea Liposome, a teacher startup company, ▲ student entrepreneurs Yoon Sang-hyuk, Lee Seo-jin, and Choi Ji-hoon.
Busan Mayor Park Hyung-joon said, "Although industry-university cooperation is emphasized to overcome the crisis faced by universities, the most important thing is the university's own will for innovation," adding, "I hope for the fruition of Silla University's efforts, which continue self-directed innovation such as establishing the first aviation-specialized college in the Southeast region and creating promising industry-linked departments like the companion animal department."
Busan City opened the Industry-University Cooperation Center, a comprehensive platform for industry-university cooperation, in August to provide customized services for companies as part of Mayor Park Hyung-joon's core pledge to create an 'Industry-University Cooperation Innovation City.'
Fifteen specialized branch centers in fields such as hydrogen, electric vehicles, and power semiconductors have been designated to reflect the voices from the field of the regional industrial economic ecosystem and promote support policies, accelerating industry-university cooperation.
