[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] Samsung Electronics announced on the 11th that it will carry out the 'Filmed #withGalaxy' campaign, producing and releasing films shot with Galaxy smartphones in collaboration with famous filmmakers worldwide.
Accordingly, short films shot with the 'Galaxy S21' by directors Joe Wright and Sha Mo will be unveiled at the '26th Busan International Film Festival (PIFF),' which opened on the 6th of this month.
Director Joe Wright has directed works including 'Atonement' (2008), which won the Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture, as well as 'Pride & Prejudice' (2006), 'Darkest Hour' (2017), and 'The Woman in the Window' (2020).
He shot every scene of the short film 'Princess & Peppernose,' which tells the story of a princess who defies convention to find true love, entirely with the ‘Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G’ smartphone. In particular, to capture the film’s diverse scenes in a musical style combining puppetry and live-action, he actively utilized the S21 Ultra’s 13mm ultra-wide-angle lens. He said, "Throughout the entire shooting process using the Galaxy S21 Ultra, it was amazing how quickly and easily I could express the characters and story," adding, "The camera was always ready, so I just had to point and press the record button."
Chinese director Sha Mo shot the film 'Kids of Paradise,' featuring children from a small rural school, with the Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G smartphone. The director used the Galaxy S21 Ultra’s 'Director’s View' feature to simultaneously capture three different scenes. Sha Mo said, "While shooting with the Galaxy S21 Ultra, I was able to capture angles and movements that a large camera could not."
Samsung Electronics plans to release additional 'Filmed #withGalaxy' stories through collaborations with famous filmmakers worldwide.
