A total of 20 screenings until December, with family-friendly movies like 'Spider-Man' and 'Inside Out' selected for this month
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Seongdong-gu (Mayor Jung Won-oh) will operate a drive-in theater at Salgot-i Sports Park Grand Stadium starting from the 15th.
With a total of 20 screenings until December, this month’s selection includes family-friendly movies such as "Spider-Man" and "Inside Out," allowing viewers to enjoy a healing time with family and loved ones in their own space while feeling the autumn atmosphere.
Movie admission is free, and reservations are accepted for 200 vehicles per screening. Screening schedules, movie titles, and advance reservations can be made through the Seongdong Cultural Foundation website.
The drive-in theater was first devised nationwide by the district last year as psychological quarantine for residents exhausted by the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.
Featuring a large screen measuring 725 inches (18m wide × 9m high), the drive-in theater provides safe and enjoyable entertainment for residents. It operated a total of 49 times until the first half of this year, attracting 7,200 vehicles and gaining great popularity among residents.
Starting in November, the theater will screen movies recommended by residents based on their feedback, further increasing viewer satisfaction.
The district has prepared comprehensive safety measures to ensure a safe movie experience, including deploying safety personnel and standby ambulances to prepare for emergencies, as well as conducting daily disinfection of the sports park stadium at Salgot-i.
From this month, alongside screening promotional videos for "Practicing Low-Carbon Living," a campaign encouraging actions such as stopping unnecessary idling will be conducted to actively guide ways to practice low-carbon living in daily life, providing an opportunity to think about the environment together.
Jung Won-oh, Mayor of Seongdong-gu, said, “I hope everyone enjoys cultural life freely without worries about COVID-19 through the drive-in theater, and we will continue to make efforts to relieve psychological stress and cultural thirst.”
