As Social Distancing Prolongs... Emart Sees Surge in Sales of Extra-Large TVs

[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chunhan] As social distancing continues for a prolonged period, the sales of ultra-large TVs over 75 inches have significantly increased due to extended home-staying lifestyles.

According to Emart on the 11th, from January to September this year, TVs over 75 inches accounted for 40.8% of sales, achieving first place for the first time. Sales of TVs over 75 inches rose 35.9% compared to the same period last year, and sales of premium TVs such as QLED and OLED increased by 127%. Meanwhile, sales of TVs 55 inches and below decreased by about 30%.

Emart has pursued larger and more premium TVs under its own brand. Following the launch of the 'Electroman 65-inch TV' last year, it released the upgraded '65-inch Electroman QLED TV' last month. This month, it plans to launch the ‘Electroman Premium MiniLED Smart TV’.

An Emart official said, "Due to the prolonged home-staying lifestyle, preference for large and premium TVs is increasing," adding, "We will continue to provide benefits to customers through the release of large and premium products aligned with trends and various discount events."
