[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] Lotte Mart announced on the 11th that it has started selling Gamhong apples at six stores in the metropolitan area and plans to showcase them at all stores by mid-month.
In 2019, Lotte Mart collaborated with Mungyeong Nonghyup to launch about 20 tons of Gamhong apples under the premium brand Hwanggeumdangdo. Last year, approximately 60 tons of the product were sold out. This year, they plan to purchase about 100 tons to expand the market for the domestic native variety Gamhong apples.
Hwanggeumdangdo is Lotte Mart's premium brand that carefully selects and presents only products that meet its own standards among fruits with about 20% higher sugar content than regular fruits, new varieties, or those cultivated using differentiated farming methods.
A Lotte Mart official said, “We are continuously discovering excellent K-varieties and regional agricultural products,” adding, “Along with expanding domestic varieties, we will provide stable sales channels to farmers and continue to offer customers excellent products they can consume with confidence.”
