Around 1,700 People Expected as of Midnight on the 10th

[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Hye-seon] On the 9th, COVID-19 confirmed cases surged across the country.
According to the quarantine authorities and local governments, from midnight to 9 p.m. on that day, 1,465 new COVID-19 cases were reported nationwide.
This is 277 fewer than the 1,742 cases recorded at the same time the previous day.
By region, 1,124 cases (76.7%) were in the metropolitan area, and 341 cases (23.3%) were in non-metropolitan areas.
Confirmed cases were reported in all 17 cities and provinces nationwide. Seoul had 571 cases, Gyeonggi 458, Incheon 95, Chungbuk 65, Daegu 46, Gyeongbuk 45, Gyeongnam 38, Busan and Chungnam each 31, Gwangju 23, Gangwon 18, Daejeon and Jeonbuk each 10, Ulsan 9, Jeju 7, Jeonnam 5, and Sejong 3.
The number of new confirmed cases to be announced as of midnight on the 10th is expected to increase to around 1,700. On the previous day, 488 cases were added after 6 p.m., closing at a final count of 1,953.
Major infection cases include hospitals, restaurants, and construction sites. Regarding a hospital in Nowon-gu, Seoul, 28 people including staff, patients, and family members have tested positive since the 6th. At a restaurant located in Gangnam-gu, a total of 14 people, including 11 staff members, tested positive. At a seminary in Cheongju, Chungbuk, 16 people have been confirmed positive and are undergoing treatment.
