Gyeonggi-do Reports Over 600 COVID-19 Cases for Fourth Consecutive Day


[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] The number of COVID-19 confirmed cases in Gyeonggi-do has remained above 600 for four consecutive days.


On the 9th, Gyeonggi-do announced that 638 new COVID-19 cases were confirmed within the province on the 8th.


More than half, 354 cases (55.5%), were small-scale n-th generation infections not classified as cluster infections. Additionally, 240 cases (37.6%) are still under investigation for their infection routes.


The occupancy rate of treatment beds in medical institutions within the province was 72.1%, down from 73.2% the previous day.


Among these, 161 out of 235 beds (68.5%) for severe patients were in use, maintaining a similar occupancy rate to the previous day (69.0%).


The operation rate of 12 living treatment centers was 66.2%, unchanged from the previous day (66.2%).


The number of confirmed patients under home treatment was 841 as of midnight on the 8th, a decrease of 94 from 935 as of midnight on the 7th.


New cluster infections were confirmed at a goshiwon in Suwon, a construction site in Osan, and a manufacturing company in Ansan.


Regarding existing cluster infection cases, three more confirmed cases were added related to the cardboard manufacturing industry in Yangju (cumulative 20 cases), and two additional confirmed cases each were reported at a construction site in Suwon (cumulative 15 cases) and a furniture manufacturing industry in Pocheon (cumulative 19 cases).


The number of COVID-19 deaths in Gyeonggi-do increased by two, bringing the cumulative total to 829.
