[Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Seoyoung] Lee Jae-myung, governor of Gyeonggi Province and a presidential candidate of the Democratic Party of Korea, referred to the opposition party as a "band of thieves."
On the 9th (today), Lee posted on his Facebook page titled "Shameless band of thieves wants to take charge of the country's finances?" expressing this view. This was shared along with his earlier post titled "Thank you, Lee Jun-seok and Kim Ki-hyun of the People Power Party, for shooting yourselves in the foot."
Lee wrote, "A local servant took back most of the stolen goods from a bandit den and returned them to the residents, but the bandits reversed their stance, came down to the village, set up tents, staged a protest, and loudly incited people." He added, "All the items they use were stolen from the villagers, yet they shamelessly shout to catch the thieves," and said, "It's an outrageous situation, but this is the perfect opportunity to wipe them out," and "Coincidentally, tomorrow is the day to elect the grape captain."

This is interpreted as Lee likening himself to a "local servant," the profits from the Daejang-dong development to "stolen goods," and the People Power Party to a "band of bandits" in his criticism. The "day to elect the grape captain" mentioned at the end of his post is understood to refer to the final primary election on the 10th to select the Democratic Party's presidential candidate.
The previous day, Lee had stated on Facebook, "Lee Jun-seok and Kim Ki-hyun of the People Power Party, please continue your futile efforts that shoot yourselves in the foot." He pointed out, "It is the People Power Party that blocked 100% public development recovery and meddled with the profits of private operators," and said, "Those who shared the stolen goods are thieves, and those who benefited are the culprits."
