5 Confirmed COVID-19 Cases Overnight in Gwangju...Total Cases Reach 5,164

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Five additional COVID-19 cases were confirmed overnight in Gwangju.

According to Gwangju Metropolitan City on the 9th, five new COVID-19 infections were confirmed the previous night and registered as cases 5160 to 5164.

Health authorities explained that all are either in isolation or overseas arrivals, making it highly unlikely that there are additional contacts.

Case 5160 is related to case 5093 confirmed on the 5th, and case 5161 was confirmed positive after showing symptoms during self-quarantine related to a senior center in Gwangsan District.

Cases 5163 and 5164 were placed in self-quarantine following tests of foreigners residing in Gwangsan District, and their infections were confirmed in tests conducted before release from quarantine.

Case 5162 is an imported case from the United States.

Meanwhile, 18 new cases were reported in the Gwangju area the previous day. Among them, five were in isolation and one was an overseas arrival.
