[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Juhee] Celebrities are sharing their experiences of side effects after receiving the COVID-19 vaccine. Shinji, a member of the group Koyote, received the AstraZeneca (AZ) vaccine for the first dose and the Pfizer vaccine for the second dose, and revealed that she suffered side effects both times.

On the 5th, a video titled "Sharing Vaccine Experience Stories! Honest and Candid Talk Show" was uploaded on 'Koyote Television,' a YouTube channel run by Koyote. Shinji, along with other Koyote members Kim Jongmin and Baekga, gathered to discuss the side effects they experienced after getting vaccinated.

Kim Jongmin, who had received the Pfizer vaccine before the YouTube shoot that day, said, "The injection itself was over in an instant, but about two hours later, I started feeling throbbing pain from my trapezius muscle to my shoulder, and it was very painful and difficult. It hurts a lot when I put strength in my arm. I’m actually in no condition to do this broadcast, but I came anyway."

Shinji, who had a mixed vaccination of AZ for the first dose and Pfizer for the second, said, "The first dose was harder. My fever went up to 39.8 degrees Celsius," and explained, "I had taken away the electric heating pad the day before the first dose, but I had a high fever and my mouth trembled even when I was still, so I put the heating pad back and covered myself with a blanket."

She continued, "I was wondering if I should go to the hospital, but I took Tylenol and slept. From the next day, even speaking a little loudly made my head throb as if hit with a hammer, and I suffered for three days." She added, "For the Pfizer second dose, my arm hurt a lot. The muscle pain was severe but ended in three days."

Baekga, who received the Janssen vaccine, said, "My arm throbbed, and about five hours later, my fever rose. I had chills, and after 7 to 8 hours, I felt very unwell," adding, "I was in so much pain that I couldn’t do anything at home for about two days. For me, it lasted about five days."

On the same day, trot singer Hongja also shared her experience of suffering side effects after receiving the Pfizer vaccine. In a post on Instagram, Hongja said, "After the first dose, I seemed fine, but about two weeks later, multiple abnormal reactions started occurring simultaneously," and explained, "I had enteritis, skin issues, abnormalities in joints and muscles throughout my body, and it was tough for about two weeks, then things started to improve simultaneously."

She added, "It’s been about a week since I got the second dose. Around me, people who didn’t feel pain or symptoms after the first dose suffered like having the flu after the second dose, but for me, the second dose went relatively smoothly."

In addition, many celebrities such as actress Park Sojin, formerly of Girls' Day, Seolhyun, a member of the girl group AOA and an actress, and mixed martial artist Chu Sung-hoon have shared experiences of body aches, headaches, armpit pain, increased heart rate, and menstrual irregularities after vaccination.

Meanwhile, on the 7th, the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency announced that it would add a menstrual disorder category to the vaccine adverse reaction list, which had previously been divided into eight categories: fever, pain, swelling/redness, vomiting, headache/joint pain/muscle pain, fatigue, allergic reactions, and others.
