Shin Yong-jin, Vice Chairman of Shinsegae Group, posted photos on social media (SNS) on the 8th showing his visit to Globe Life Field, the home stadium of the Texas Rangers.
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] Chung Yong-jin, vice chairman of Shinsegae Group and owner of the professional baseball team SSG Landers, visited Globe Life Field, the home stadium of the Texas Rangers in Major League Baseball (MLB), which features a state-of-the-art retractable dome.
On the 8th, Chung posted photos on his social media showing various facilities of Globe Life Field. It is known that he visited Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas last week while on a business trip to the United States.
Chung’s visit to the MLB stadium has attracted attention because Shinsegae Group is planning to build a dome stadium. After acquiring the SK Wyverns earlier this year, Shinsegae Group announced plans to develop a multipurpose facility including a dome stadium in the long term. Chung also mentioned, "We were planning to build a theme park in Cheongna, Incheon, but we are currently reviewing the laws related to dome stadium construction."
Globe Life Field, which Chung visited, opened last year and is a state-of-the-art stadium with a construction cost of $1.2 billion (approximately 1.43 trillion KRW). The only dome stadium in Korean professional baseball is the Seoul Gocheok Sky Dome, completed in 2015.
