[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Sang-hyun] Gimhae City, Gyeongnam Province announced on the 7th that from the 12th to the 20th, it will conduct a joint public-private inspection of facilities emitting environmental pollutants within the city.

This joint inspection is being implemented to solve local environmental issues such as fine dust and odors together with residents and to ensure transparency in enforcement.

The inspection will be carried out by four teams composed of eight residents from the inspection areas who are highly interested in environmental issues and public officials.

The target areas are Jinyeong-eup and Hallim-myeon, where there are many environmental complaints such as odors. The inspection will check for unauthorized discharge of environmental pollutants, neglect of malfunctioning prevention facilities, and installation of unlicensed (unreported) facilities at 125 air and wastewater discharge sites.

If any violations are detected, strong measures such as administrative sanctions and prosecutions will be taken according to relevant laws and regulations. For facilities suspected of exceeding emission standards, pollution tests and technical support will be provided as necessary.

In addition, the violation details of the detected businesses will be disclosed on the city’s website and continuously managed until improvements are completed.

A city official said, "As citizens' interest in environmental issues is increasing due to the climate crisis and fine dust, we will raise awareness among emitting facilities and induce the eradication of environmental pollution by conducting joint inspections together with citizens."
