Opening of the 'Technical Knowledge Sharing Platform' to Enhance Sharing and Utilization of Technical Knowledge
[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] Hyundai Steel opened and began operating a ‘Technology Knowledge Sharing Platform’ last month for all employees across the company.
Hyundai Steel’s ‘Technology Knowledge Sharing Platform’ was established to enable any employee to easily acquire the scattered technical knowledge and information within the company and efficiently utilize it in their work. Through this, it aims to reduce the time employees spend searching for technical materials, improve working methods, and ultimately serve as an opportunity to create creative outcomes through collective intelligence.
The ‘Technology Knowledge Sharing Platform’ of Hyundai Steel consists of four main sections. It includes ‘Knowledge Warehouse (Organized Information)’, where employees share high-quality materials written based on their own know-how stored on their personal PCs; ‘Information Warehouse (Keeping Information)’, which shares materials obtained externally; ‘Ask & Answer’, a Q&A section providing answers based on the knowledge of expert researchers covering everything from basic technical terms to specialized technical fields; and ‘Task Proposal (whY)’, where employees can propose tasks requiring technical improvements or solutions during work processes. These four functions are collectively nicknamed the ‘OKAY Platform’.
In addition, the platform incorporates the latest digital technologies such as trend search and various search functions, expected to provide users with a positive experience. Dedicated personnel are also assigned to operate the platform, providing immediate technical information services to offer practical assistance in work and maximize user satisfaction.
Meanwhile, Hyundai Steel plans to introduce a system that converts platform activities into points and rewards employees accordingly to encourage active participation and motivation in sharing technical knowledge and information.
