Expanding Promising Commercialization Technology Exchange Opportunities Between Public Sector, Universities, and Magok Companies
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Seoul Metropolitan Government has taken on the role of a platform connecting companies in need of innovative technologies in promising IT, BT, GT, and NT fields but facing difficult conditions for technology development with institutions possessing various excellent technologies.
On the 7th, the Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Seoul Business Agency (SBA) announced that they held the ‘2021 Magok TechBiz Exchange Meeting’ to support matching between Magok companies and technology-holding institutions to enhance the utilization of public promising technologies and improve corporate research outcomes.
The ‘2021 Magok TechBiz Exchange Meeting’ is a promising technology exchange event hosted by the Seoul Metropolitan Government and organized by the Magok Industrial Complex Management Corporation (SBA). Technology-holding institutions from three organizations (ETRI, ETRI Holdings, Ewha Womans University Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation) participated, and consultations focused on the ‘demand technologies’ required by companies.
Consultations for technology matching were conducted in IT fields such as artificial intelligence and in pharmaceutical/biotech fields. Seven Magok companies, including Tricomtec and Top Table, were finally matched, with technology consultations and corporate investment consultations conducted simultaneously. After the exchange meeting, continuous researcher meetings will be supported to provide opportunities for mutual collaboration, technology transfer, and to create visible outcomes.
Additionally, to activate the Magok industry-academia-research cooperation network, SBA and Ewha Womans University Medical Center jointly promoted the ‘Magok·Ewha R&BD Network,’ which was live-streamed online to share the latest technology information with on-site participants.
Oh Kyung-hee, Director of the Strategic Industry Infrastructure Division of Seoul City, said, “As a result of efforts to expand industry-academia-research technology exchange points to enhance R&D research outcomes in the Magok Industrial Complex, tangible results such as technology transfers between cooperating institutions and Magok companies are becoming visible. We will continue to support active technology exchanges by field in Magok and link them to investment attraction.”
